Endhiran (Robot in English) is an upcoming Tamil movie starring Rajinikanth and Aishwariya Rai. This science-fiction film is being directed by S. Shankar. This will be Shankar's tenth feature film. The Endhiran project was originally launched by Shankar and Ayngaran International who were to distribute the film. However in December 2008 Ayngaran backed off due to financial problems led by the currently ongoing global market recession. Recently it was announced that the Chennai-based company Sun Pictures has bought the production rights to Endhiran.The film preparation began on February 15, 2008. Shankar and the cinematographer R. Rathnavelu have already went around the world on a location-hunt for Endhiran. They visited Vienna in Austria, Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, and Hanoi in Vietnam to pick the shooting locations. The first official shooting of the film started on September 2008 where a video song was shot under the choreography of Raju Sundaram.
Endhiran is also being filmed in The United States, Brazil and popular shooting locations in India such as Goa, Himachal Pradesh and Chennai.
The film is set to be released on April 14, 2010. The cost of this film is around 120 crores. |
